Unalaska has an ongoing record of involvement in cultural activities and events - including Camp Qunqaayu (Culture Camp), basketry exhibits, a revival of traditional hat and mask making and oral narrative appreciation. The Native Parent Advisory Committe has always sought ways to share as much as possible with newcomers so that they can understand more about this place they come to live.

It is significant to note that while only 19% of the Unalaska School population is Native, they hired a certificated teacher, a trained linquist, to teach Unangam Tunuu K-12.
